After Steve Bannon was ousted from his position as chief strategist Friday, President Donald Trump took to Twitter early Saturday morning thanking him for his service.
"I want to thank Steve Bannon for his service. He came to the campaign during my run against Crooked Hillary Clinton - it was great! Thanks S," Trump tweeted.
Bannon, the strategist who helped transform President Trump’s campaign into a populist juggernaut, has given a series of interviews since his firing and has declared the Trump presidency is "over."
He also said he would be "going to war" for President Donald Trump, warning that he will continue to press the populist cause against the political and corporate establishment.
According to a Reuters report, Bannon rejoined Breitbart as executive chairman only hours after his firing was announced.
He is now expected to use it as a platform to blast those within the White House - and perhaps Trump himself - when they don't hew to the fiercely nationalist policies Bannon advocated as an inside adviser.
