Republican presidential candidates Donald Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz are almost in a tie with each other in Indiana, according to
Clout Political Research.
The telephone poll was conducted April 27 with 423 likely Republican primary voters in Indiana.
- 37.1 percent of the likely Republican primary voters would choose Trump.
- 35.2 percent of the likely Republican primary voters would choose Cruz.
- 16.3 percent of the likely Republican primary voters would choose John Kasich.
- 11.4 percent of the likely Republican primary voters were not sure of their pick.
When all the voters were asked if they had favorable or unfavorable opinions of the Republican candidates, Cruz came out ahead.
- 45.6 percent of the likely voters said Cruz is "very" or "somewhat" favorable.
- 42.4 percent of the likely voters said Trump is "very" or "somewhat" favorable.
- 42.2 percent of the likely voters said Kasich was "very" or "somewhat" favorable.
When all the voters were asked if they would support Trump if he became the nominee, most said they would.
- 64 percent of the likely voters would vote Trump for president.
- 6.3 percent of the likely voters would choose a Democratic candidate.
- 6.4 percent will choose a third-party candidate.
- 19.4 percent aren't sure whom they will vote for if Trump is the nominee.
- 3.4 percent said they wouldn't vote at all.
