In an early morning tweet on Tuesday, President Donald Trump weighed in on the FBI's announcement that there were missing text messages involving an agent who was taken off special counsel Robert Mueller's investigative team for possible bias against the president.

Trump's tweet came after the FBI on Sunday said it "failed to preserve" five months of text messages involving senior agent Peter Strzok, who was removed from Mueller's Russia election meddling probe after reports that he made derogatory comments about Trump, according to The Washington Post.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions said on Monday that the Justice Department will "leave no stone unturned" to locate the missing text messages, according to The Hill.

GOP officials have said the messages show the FBI was biased against Trump in the investigations into Russian election meddling and Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server as secretary of state.
