President Donald Trump said Saturday morning he took the advice of a longtime Republican lawmaker by being prepared and focused on the federal government's response to Hurricane Harvey.
Trump tweeted this in response to Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, who cautioned the president Friday to stay on top of what's happening on the Gulf Coast because of the storm:
A short time later, Trump posted another tweet that said he is keeping abreast of the hurricane, which
made landfall near Corpus Christi, Texas overnight.
The Category 4 hurricane slammed into the Texas coast with maximum sustained winds of 130 mph.
It was later downgraded to a Category 1 storm after weakening over land.
The storm is expected to dump more than three feet of rain on the Gulf Coast region over the next few days.
