Trump Nudges Lawmakers on Merit-Based Immigration

President Donald Trump continued his push for merit-based immigration via a Thursday morning tweet directed at lawmakers on Capitol Hill.

Trump posted this message on his Twitter account, his preferred method of communicating directly to Americans:

Lawmakers are working on immigration legislation ahead of a March 5 deadline to protect people who have benefitted from the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Trump supports a GOP-written bill unveiled this week that would provide a path to citizenship for DACA recipients and would reform the immigration system overall.

Trump and Republicans are also seeking money to fund a border wall to be constructed between the United States and Mexico.
