President Donald Trump said that Joe Biden would be a "dream" opponent in the 2020 presidential election, adding that the former vice president "could never do anything" by himself.

Trump made the comments in an interview with "CBS Evening News."

"Well, I dream, I dream about Biden. That's a dream," Trump said when asked by anchor Jeff Glor who he thought his Democratic opponent would be.

"President Obama took him out of the garbage heap, and everybody was shocked that he did," Trump said. "I'd love to have it be Biden.

"I'd like to run against any one of them, but Biden never by himself could never do anything. President Obama took him, made him vice president and he was fine. But you go back and look at how he succeeded in running, when he ran two or three times, I don't think he ever break -- broke one. He was at the … 1 percent or less level," Trump told Glor.

Biden has said he'll decide on a possible presidential run by the end of this year.
