President Donald Trump's eldest son, Donald Trump, Jr., said he is betting that the Democratic response to the House intelligence memo will leak to the media before the actual memo is made public.

Trump Jr. was referring to Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff and his party's response to as-yet-unseen GOP memo from the House Intelligence Committee, according to Politico.

Trump. Jr has been a strong advocate for releasing a classified memo prepared by Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee that reportedly shows alleged FBI abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act in their application to surveil members of the Trump campaign.

Democrats have claimed that the GOP's focus on the memo is part of a larger Republican effort to discredit the FBI and special counsel Robert Mueller's probe into alleged ties between the president's campaign and the Russian government.

"The majority seeks to selectively and misleadingly characterize classified information in an effort to protect the president at any cost," Schiff said of the GOP memo, according to Politico.

On Sunday, White House legislative affairs director Marc Short told Fox News that the president wants the memo declassified and made public.

"The president generally sides on the side of transparency," Short said. "Yes, I think he believes that should be put out."

However, the Justice Department is against releasing the memo, saying it has not been given the opportunity to review any of its conclusions.
