Donald Trump Jr. on Tuesday blasted the firestorm over his meeting with a Russian lawyer during the 2016 presidential campaign, calling it "nonsense" and saying it shows "desperation" on the part of the media and Democrats.
He tweeted in the wake of reports that he met with the lawyer after being promised harmful information about Hillary Clinton.
The New York Times reported Monday that Trump Jr. had been told before the meeting that the expected Clinton dirt was part of a Russian government effort to help his father's presidential campaign.
Trump Jr. followed up later by retweeting an item from the Daily Caller noting that Clinton's campaign worked with Ukrainian government officials to dig up dirt on her election opponents.
