President Donald Trump on Monday said the only way he'd lose the presidential election is if it was "rigged," according to The Hill.

Trump encouraged a group of supporters in Oshkosh, Wisconsin Monday afternoon to vote this November. Over the past few months, the president has predicted that mail-in voting during the coronavirus pandemic would lead to cheating in the voting process.

“We have to win the election. We can’t play games. Go out and vote. Do those beautiful absentee ballots or just make sure your vote gets counted. Make sure, because the only way we are going to lose this election is if the election is rigged,” Trump said at the outdoor campaign event. “Remember that. It’s the only way we’re going to lose this election, so we have to be very careful.”

“The only way they’re going to win is that way. And we can’t let that happen,” Trump said.

Trump hinted last week that he was against giving additional funding to the Postal Service because it would carry out universal mail-in voting this fall. Later the same day, he reversed course and said he would approve Postal Service funding if Democrats included spending measures backed by the White House.

Democrats have also become wary of the Postal Service after it cautioned states that ballots cast by mail may not arrive in time enough to be counted for the election. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, a major Trump donor, got the backing of the president who assured him the administration would support the agency.

"It’s been run horribly. And we’re going to make it good," Trump said in an interview on “Fox & Friends” Monday morning. "Now what am I supposed to do? Let it continue to run badly? So if you fix it, they say ‘oh he’s tampering with the election.' No, we’re not tampering."
