President-elect Donald Trump will meet Monday with Martin Luther King III, son of civil rights pioneer Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., to commemorate Martin Luther King Day.

Trump's incoming press secretary Sean Spicer made the announcement Monday morning on Twitter:

The Washington Post reports Spicer elaborated on the meeting during NBC's "Today" appearance.

"Today, President-elect Trump is going to sit down with Martin Luther King III and others in New York and have a conversation about voting, about bringing more people into the system, the legacy of Dr. King, and how we can pursue that under the Trump administration," Spicer said.

Trump posted praise for Rev. King on his own Twitter account:

In an opinion piece Friday in the Post, King III offered suggestions for Trump to fix the voting system, starting with adding a photo to Social Security cards.
