President Donald Trump said Friday that Keith Kellogg, who was named acting national security adviser after Mike Flynn's forced resignation this week, is "very much in play" for the job.
In a Twitter post the morning after Vice Admiral Robert Harward turned down the job, Trump said "three others" are being considered in addition to Kellogg.
Kellogg is a retired general who was chief of staff of the White House National Security Council.
According to two sources familiar with Harward's decision, the senior executive at Lockheed Martin declined the offer in part because he wanted to bring in his own team. Trump has said that Flynn's deputy, K.T. McFarland, could stay.
