President Donald Trump took aim at The New York Times early Thursday, two days after the newspaper reported that he considered firing FBI special counsel Robert Mueller last December to shut down his investigation.
"If I wanted to fire Robert Mueller in December, as reported by the Failing New York Times, I would have fired him," Trump wrote on Twitter.
The Times, which cited interviews with eight White House officials, reported that Trump was angry about reports of a new round of subpoenas targeting his business with Deutsche Bank. Trump backed down after Mueller's office denied that was happening, the Times said.
