Donald Trump’s campaign will move forward without the Ohio state’s GOP chairman Matt Borges, with whom it has officially cut ties because of Borges’ "self-promotional" campaign to be the next Republican National Committee chairman.

Trump’s state campaign manager Bob Paduchik denounced Borges in a statement Saturday to Ohio’s GOP committee members, as reported by the Columbus Dispatch. Trump is "very disappointed in Matt’s duplicity"and said "this is why people have lost faith in the establishment and party leaders,"Paduchik wrote.

"It's no great secret that Chairman Borges was never fully on board, but his actions over the past week demonstrate that his loyalties to Governor John Kasich's failed Presidential campaign eclipse his responsibility as chairman of the Ohio Republican Party," Paduchik wrote. "The chairman is also apparently driven by an insatiable need for publicity.”

Ohio has been considered a vital one for Trump’s presidential candidacy. The latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News/Marist poll of likely voters had Trump ahead by just 1 point.

Borges responded Saturday his staff "has been in lock step with the Trump organization"and his endorsement has been declined by Trump’s campaign, according to a tweet by ABC News.
