President Donald Trump said Wednesday he does not mind if the public is allowed to see the report that Special Counsel Robert Mueller is preparing about his investigation of Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election and any possible links to the Trump campaign.

"Let it come out," Trump told reporters at the White House Wednesday. "Let people see it,," adding: "Let's see whether or not it's legit."

The House last week approved a nonbinding resolution calling for the report to be made public.

Mueller is expected to send his report to Attorney General William Barr soon. Trump said it will be up to Barr to decide what to do with the report.

Trump cast doubt on its findings, though, calling Mueller "conflicted" and questioning why he has the authority to write it in the first place.

"I think it's ridiculous," Trump said, "but I want to see the report."
