Scaramucci: Trump Could Get Primaried If He Continues Attacks on Female Dems

Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci on Sunday warned of President Donald Trump’s potential demise in a GOP primary challenge if he continues his attacks on four freshman Democratic congresswomen.

“I will tell you something, people are going to say no way this will happen but trust me, he keeps going down this path, a Republican will primary him,” Scaramucci told Fox’s Howard Kurtz on MediaBuzz. “Some Republican will step out of the box and say, ‘OK, we have to recast the Republican party for 2024,’ It would be a quixotic quest to primary him right now, but it would also send a message to people that we have to re-engineer this party. You cannot divide the country as the president of the United States.”

Trump last week suggested that four female lawmakers of color should “go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came.”

His comments ignited a firestorm of criticism, including from Scaramucci, who suggested Trump was turning into a racist.

“I don’t think the president is a racist,” Scaramucci told the BBC last Tuesday. “But here’s the thing, if you continue to say and act in that manner, then we all have to look at him and say, ‘OK, well, maybe you weren’t a racist, but now you’re turning into one.’”

Scaramucci served as communications director for six days during the summer of 2017.
