President Donald Trump vowed to only sign a bill to replace Obamacare if it's a "great plan," the Washington Examiner reports.
In an interview with "The Fox News Specialists" that will air Monday at 5 p.m., Trump said he's "doing the best" he can to fulfill Republicans' promise to repeal and replace Obamacare. He referred to the GOP's attempt to get their healthcare plan passed in March as "The one mistake I made with the healthcare."
He added, "You know, we have one plan that's going through. It's been getting better and better and better and someone said 'the people voting for Trump aren't getting good' … they're gonna get the greatest! These are the greatest people. We're either gonna have a great plan or I'm not signing it. And I've said from day one, the best thing I could do is let Obamacare die and then come in with a plan."
Trump addressed healthcare on Sunday, saying that the GOP plan has "a clause that guarantees" coverage for pre-existing conditions.
"We have — we've set up a pool for the pre-existing conditions so that the premiums can be allowed to fall," he said on CBS' "Face the Nation."
Earlier that morning he tweeted about healthcare, repeating his claim about pre-existing conditions and promising improvements to premiums and deductibles.
