President Donald Trump will not be spending Thanksgiving at his Palm Beach, Florida, resort this year, opting instead to celebrate the holiday at the White House.
The Hill reported that Trump had been expected to spend the holiday at his Mar-a-Lago resort. It noted the president has spent each of the past three Thanksgivings in Florida.
Word of Trump’s plans for the holiday came in a Tuesday tweet from Stephanie Grisham, spokeswoman for first lady Melania Trump.
She wrote: "Holiday Scheduling Update: The @POTUS & @flotus will be celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday at the @WhiteHouse this year."
The announcement of his Thanksgiving plans come amid the dispute over the election.
The president has refused to concede the election, claiming voter fraud, Business Insider noted. Meanwhile, he has made few public appearances since the election.
"It feels like bunker mentality," a White House official told CNN before the president’s Thanksgiving plans were announced.
