Democrats did not want to enact gun control legislation when they controlled the House and the Senate and Barack Obama was president, President Donald Trump wrote Saturday.

“Just like they don’t want to solve the DACA problem, why didn’t the Democrats pass gun control legislation when they had both the House & Senate during the Obama administration? Because they didn’t want to, and now they just talk,” Trump wrote in a Saturday tweet.

Democrats had control of the Senate in 2013, but two gun control measures proposed by Democrats failed that year — Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.’s proposal to ban assault weapons, and Sen. Joe Machin, D-W.Va.’s proposal for universal background checks, The Hill reported.

The Democratic Party had control of the House, the Senate, and the White House for four months, from Sept. 2009 to Feb. 2010, an analysis in The Akron Beacon-Journal reported.
