Three days after President-elect Donald Trump drew ire for allegedly asking Argentine President Mauricio Macri to help push along construction of a Trump Tower in Buenos Aires, the city's capital, the project has been set to reportedly start again.
Trump's associates at YY Development Group in Buenos Aires on Wednesday told La Nacion newspaper that the developers are now hoping to start construction in June 2017. The project had been held up for years due to a host of issues.
Developers also told La Nacion that they hope to have the prestigious building completed by 2020.
The building, set to stand 35 floors tall, has a $100 million budget. Macri denied reports that Trump asked for his help in getting things going and said that the two only talked about Trump's upset victory in the election. Trump did get criticized, though, for allowing his daughter, Ivanka, to be on the call, something Macri did not deny.
Trump, well known in the real estate world, has been criticized for blurring the lines between his businesses and president-elect duties. While he is not in office yet, his ties to properties at nearly every turn have brought about a discussion on how he will handle dividing the two. He's said previously that he will turn over his businesses to his children, but many don't believe that move will suffice.
