An “upbeat and positive” President Donald Trump on Thursday told nine GOP senators that he was glad he’d released the summary of his  July 25 call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Politico reported.

The message was hammered home “over and over” as he sought — and found — party unity, the news outlet reported.

“He said: 'Read the transcript,’” Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., told the news outlet. “He said a number of times he was really glad there was a transcript and that he was really glad he released it.”

“What the president said over and over: He was delighted there was a transcript, he was glad that there was one and he was glad that he released it,” Hawley said.

“Jovial. He seems upbeat and positive,” Hawley said of Trump's mood at the sit-down and lunch.

Others attending were GOP Sens. John Cornyn of Texas, Rick Scott of Florida, Tom Cotton of Arkansas, John Barrasso of Wyoming, Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, and Cindy Hyde-Smith and Roger Wicker, both of Mississippi, an administration official told Politico.
