The White House has released a new photograph of President Donald Trump working from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where he is continuing treatment after being diagnosed with COVID-19 late last week.
The photograph, released on Sunday, shows Trump at a conference room table at the hospital, showing him sitting near a telephone. The White House said the photo was taken after Trump took calls from Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley, reports Fox News. Chief of Staff Mark Meadows was also in the room when the photo was taken, according to its caption.
Trump has been pushing an image of strength since being taken by helicopter to Walter Reed.
Sunday, the president went for a brief drive outside the hospital to greet supporters gathered outside the hospital. Critics, including many medical professionals, said he put members of the Secret Service in jeopardy for a photo-op.
Meanwhile, Trump is getting 'bored' in Walter Reed, according to some aides who said he is "tiring" of watching TV coverage of his illness, including speculation that he may have to hand over his powers to Vice President Mike Pence, reports the Daily Mail.
The president has told aides he wants to return to the White House as early as Monday, and one of his doctors said that could happen.
The president has had a few health scares after announcing in the early morning hours Friday that he and first lady Melania Trump had tested positive for coronavirus.
Trump's blood oxygen levels dropped suddenly twice, and Meadows said Saturday the president had suffered symptoms Friday that left his staff "real concerned."
