Democratic presidential candidate Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, on Tuesday slammed the Democratic National Committee for creating debate rules to hold a "pre-primary election" before voters go to the polls.

"It's unfortunate to see how is this primary election has played out," Gabbard said by video link-up to the Presidential Town Hall sponsored by Newsmax and the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, Iowa. "The DNC partnered with corporate media allies — and is trying to kind of hold a pre-primary election before you the voters have the opportunity to vote yourselves, especially those voters in the early states.

"I hope that the DNC hears this message loud and clear – gets out of the way just to allow voters to exercise your responsibility in your right to vote so that it is nothing but your voices that are heard in the election."
