President Donald Trump trolled liberal hypocrisy via a tweet of an advertisement Wednesday night, featuring former Vice President Joe Biden, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and House Judiciary Committee Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., speaking out against impeachment.
"Democrats want to steal the election! #KAG2020," President Trump tweeted, sharing the pro-Trump video ad, with KAG standing for his 2020 campaign slogan of Keep America Great.
Coincidentally, the top voices shouting for President Trump's impeachment now were all very much against impeachment when it pertained to Democratic former President Bill Clinton, as the ad shows in video clips of their past statements set to the tune of dramatic music.
"Democrats know impeachment hurts the country," the ad states at the beginning. "They don't care."
Then it proceeded to show Democrats sharing modern-day Republican talking points:
- Biden: "It is simply antithetical to our constitutional democracy to use impeachment to overturn an election on partisan grounds."
- Speaker Pelosi: "I think it has traumatic impact on the confidence that the American people have in government."
- Rep. Nadler: "The effect of impeachment is to overturn the popular will of the voters as expressed in a national election."
- Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.: "Their hatred of the president exceeds their caring about this country and its people."
- Biden again: "It would trample on the choice made by the people through the electoral process and do great harm."
- Nadler again: "The people elected the president. They still support him. We have no right to overturn the considered judgment of the American people."
- Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.: "But what the American people are saying loudly and clearly is let's get on with the business of the American people."
- Nadler yet again: "Impeachment of a president is an undoing of a national election.
- Biden one last time: "It violates the independence of the presidency and it usurps the people's voice."
- Nadler one more time: "They ripping asunder our votes. They are telling us that our votes don't count. And that the election must be set aside."
- Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif.: "Send a message through the ballot box. That's what we do in this democracy."
"Democrats lost the 2016 election," the ad reads near the end. "Now they want to steal this one.
"Don't let them."
But one last eerily ironic comment from Rep. Al Green, D-Texas:
"I'm concerned if we don't impeach this president," he said. "He will get re-elected."
