President-elect Donald Trump lobbed a Twitter salvo at the "crooked media" Monday night for reporting on his potential business conflicts in foreign ventures.

The jab came just hours after an off-the-record meeting with executives and stars from five major networks, and a day before a meeting with journalists and editors at the New York Times.

In response to Trump's media slam, one Twitter poster noted "prior to the election, you thought conflicts of interest were bad," linking to his previous criticism of Clinton Foundation conflicts.

The president-elect has come under renewed scrutiny about possible conflicts of interest after he reportedly met with Indian business partners and his three eldest children at Trump Tower over the weekend, even as his new Washington hotel was soliciting business from foreign diplomats.

Trump also raised eyebrows for allowing his daughter, Ivanka Trump, who is executive vice president of development and acquisitions for the Trump Organization, to be present at Trump's first meeting with a foreign leader, Japanese Prime Minster Shinzo Abe.

And the Philippines has announced Jose E.B. Antonio, who is Trump's business partner in that country, would be Manila's envoy to the U.S. for trade and investment.

Trump has promised to "drain the swamp" in Washington – and his transition team insists steps are being taken taken to adhere to ethics rules.

Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway assured Fox News on Monday, as Politico reported, there are "experts behind the scenes doing that. The adult children – who already help him run his business and obviously will be the stewards of that business in their father's absence – are on top of that."
