Lawyers: Talks For Trump-Mueller Interview Ongoing

Recent developments in the Russia investigation have not changed the actions President Donald Trump's lawyers are taking to keep the probe moving.

White House lawyer Ty Cobb told The Daily Beast that the raids on offices, an apartment, and a hotel room tied to Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen have not impacted their negotiations to have Trump speak with special counsel Robert Mueller.

"The Cohen searches, while they have taken time away from discussions with regard to an interview, certainly have not brought those discussions to a halt. They continue," Cobb said.

"The Cohen searches have not yet changed our strategy or level of cooperation with the special counsel."

Attorney Jay Sekulow works on Trump's personal legal team and also confirmed to The Daily Beast that talks are ongoing regarding a Trump-Mueller interview.

"We continue our ongoing cooperation with the Office of the Special Counsel," Sekulow said.

It was reported this week that Trump was recently informed he is not a target of Mueller's probe, which began last spring over suspicions that his campaign may have colluded with Russia — which in itself is not a crime. Trump has repeatedly said the investigation is a "witch hunt" and that he and members of his campaign did not work with the Russians to beat Democrat Hillary Clinton in the election.

Friday morning, attorney and professor Alan Dershowitz made the point during a Fox News appearance that Trump could still become a target, based on what investigators find in the documents seized in the Cohen raids.
