White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Tuesday declined to comment on news reports about questions Russia special counsel Robert Mueller wanted to ask President Donald Trump but zinged Rep. Adam Schiff on whether they focused on obstruction of justice.
"Is the White House concerned, as Congressman Adam Schiff has said, that so many of the questions point to obstruction of justice?" Francesca Chambers, White House correspondent for The Daily Mail, asked at the daily briefing.
"We at the White House try never to be concerned with anything involving Adam Schiff," Sanders quipped.
The New York Times disclosed Monday that it had obtained 49 questions that Mueller's investigators had regarding the president's Russian ties and whether he tried to obstruct the Justice Department's investigation in Kremlin meddling.
Schiff, of California, is the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee. He suggested to Rachel Maddow on MSNBC Monday that Mueller's questions pointed to obstruction.
