Republican Meg Whitman is translating her message into Spanish, and emphasizing her opposition to Arizona's controversial immigration law, to court Latinos in her quest to become California’s next governor.

Thus, one of her two new commercials proclaims: "Meg Whitman es una candidata diferente," according to CNN’s Political Ticker blog. Translation: "Meg Whitman is a different kind of candidate."

The ads, which tout her opposition to Arizona's tough new immigration law, are part of the former eBay CEO’s targeting of the state’s 13.5 million-plus Hispanics in her campaign against Democratic Attorney General Jerry Brown.

"She is the Republican who opposes the Arizona law. . ." an announcer says in one of the ads, which are running during the World Cup games on Univision, Telemundo, and Telefutura.
