A Wisconsin teacher who is an officer in the state teachers union will challenge a GOP senator for her seat in a recall election.
Shelly Moore, a member of the leadership team for the Wisconsin Education Association Council, has announced her intention to run against GOP Sen. Sheila Harsdorf of River Falls.
Harsdorf is one of six GOP senators in line for a recall election for her vote to curtail collective-bargaining rights for public employees.
Moore says she is running because Harsdorf and Gov. Scott Walker have "turned their back" on Wisconsin families.
Harsdorf's campaign has responded in a statement by claiming Moore is tied to special interests and will promote a "tax and spend" policy.
Election officials plan to schedule most recall elections July 12.
