One day after President Donald Trump shut down an Obama-era rule that would have required businesses to report how much they pay workers of different genders, races, and ethnic groups, MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski criticized Ivanka Trump for not representing women in the White House.

The Obama-era proposal was aimed to address pay disparities, and Ivanka Trump blessed the move for the White House to ditch it.

"Ultimately, while I believe the intention was good and agree that pay transparency is important, the proposed policy would not yield the intended results," Ivanka Trump's statement read. "We look forward to continuing to work with . . . Congress and all relevant stakeholders on robust policies aimed at eliminating the gender wage gap."

Women's groups decried the move and said the president's daughter betrayed her purported commitment to working women.

"This is not a technical tweak as they would have you believe," said Fatima Goss Graves, president and CEO of the National Women's Law Center. "Make no mistake — it's an all-out attack on equal pay."
