Georgia residents were subject to a shocking development last week. Corporations now think they should have veto power over laws passed by the duly–elected House and Senate and signed by the governor.
Delta Airlines, Coca–Cola, and Major League Baseball all criticized an election reform bill designed to prevent voting fraud and expand opportunities to vote.
All three repeated verbatim leftist talking points that were filled with outright lies and distortions.
MLB even moved this year’s All–Star game from Atlanta.
Delta’s CEO Ed Bastian was a particularly enthusiastic regurgitator of leftist lies. So much so that when Iowa approved a new law expanding gun ownership rights, we expected Bastian to announce Delta would no longer fly to Iowa and demand baseball players stop appearing in rural cornfields.
The Washington Examiner has an explanation for this avalanche of lies. The left fears losing the lock–step loyalty and high turnout from its minority base.
"Evidently, Democrats’ fears about their underperformance with minority voters in the 2020 election are even greater than previously understood. Suddenly, they are in a panic that they are losing their iron grip on a key group of voters they have patronized and taken for granted for so long without helping at all. The only cure is to reach out and try to scare the hell out of nonwhite voters."
In doing so, the left can’t help but demonstrate their hidden contempt for the base. It’s most obvious in the condescension that permeates the "voter suppression" narrative. As Sen. Rand Paul (R–Realism) recently stated, "There is nothing Jim Crow about [the Georgia voting reform]. In fact, what is very insulting and really just gets to me is they are implying that people of certain races are not able to comply with rules, show up, or have a driver's license or figure this out."
The left does this with impunity because it knows the leftist stenographers in the Opposition Media will only parrot the attacks and ignore the condescention. Voters who depend on major newspapers, the three legacy TV networks and captive–audience cable will never hear the other side of the controversy.
The Examiner proved the lies start at the top, "Biden himself misled about the Georgia voting law …claiming that it forced polling places to close at 5 p.m. …In fact, the law merely requires polling places during early voting to stay open until at least 5 p.m., giving them discretion to stay open until 7 p.m. This is an expansion of voting hours, not a contraction of them."
The claim that the Sahara–like climate surrounding Georgia polling places would result in death for voters not kept in a constant H2O mist provided by Democrat activists is similarly false. "The outrage is entirely manufactured and disingenuous. Election workers and community volunteers will still be permitted to distribute food and water to voters in line," the Examiner article notes.
Voter ID requirements are equally sensible and the attacks equally untrue. As the Examiner said, "Finally, the law contains perfectly commonsense requirements that absentee voters provide appropriate proof of identity when requesting their ballots and request their ballot within a perfectly reasonable nine-week window — not the six-month period that was permitted in the 2020 election.
Opposing this reform, as Delta, Coca–Cola and MLB do, means they are in favor of allowing activists to influence votes with gifts and they support making voter fraud easier. They aren’t opposing Jim Crow, they are demanding the establishment of Jim Corporate.
We agree completely with the Examiner’s summary: "It is preposterous for these hypocrites to preen and posture with such lies. Georgia lawmakers have done the right thing and should stick to their guns and defend their law against all these lies and any legal challenges that arise."
