Just a few weeks ago the F4 tornado slammed through the heartland and left hundreds of families shattered and in desperate need of help. Before the fumbling government overpaid bureaucrats could create and shuffle enough redundant, ridiculous, and counterproductive paperwork, real Americans charged to the front lines to do all they could to help their fellow Americans.
It's not called the heartland for nothing.
Caring neighbors came to the rescue before the storm abated, saving lives, providing emergency first aid, putting out fires, and bringing blankets, food, water, and supplies. Many caring folk traveled from afar to help clear debris, cut trees, assist the injured, and search for survivors, pets, and personal belongings.
They provided shelter, and most importantly, tender loving care and spiritual support, literally beginning to prepare for rebuilding before you can say American blood brothers.
And these great Americans are indeed my blood brothers. My heartland hunting buddies, as usual, shared their harvest of sacred venison with neighbors, homeless shelters, and soup kitchens, something we do every year more than 250,000 times.
That's right. Through our long-running various Hunters for the Hungry program in every state, we harvest the annual renewable surplus of wild game, and butcher, cook, and serve more than a quarter of a billion incredible, nutritious, renewable, pure, organic, delicious hot meals of hard-earned meat with our fellow Americans in time of need.
Most people have never heard of this amazing "we the people" charitable program over the last 25 years. This is because so many media clowns, driven by the insanity of soulless animal rights freaks, don't want to tread on the political correctness curse of denial by mentioning how hunters perform the ultimate hands-on "wise use" conservation duty of killing millions of deer and other big game every natural hunting season. These hunters bring balance to the land, perpetuating the most revered wildlife conservation model in the history of humanity, and feeding millions and millions of families across the land the highest quality protein found on earth.
But wait! We're not done with this perfect "we the people" generosity that roils through the veins of everybody I know, for what could possibly be better than bringing together the two greatest segments of humanity for such a cause?
And of course I'm talking about hunters and rock 'n' rollers, certainly the confluence of ultimate American blood brothers if ever there was.
So as the yummy venison flows, the ultimate soundtrack for such a spiritual feast was unleashed and came to the rescue of our heartland friends.
I am on my way right now to Bloomington, Ill., at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum to join my rockin' American soul music blood brothers REO Speedwagon, Styx, Survivor, Head East, Richard Marx, Brushville, Larry the Cable Guy (believe me, he ROCKS!), and an army of giving, loving, caring soldiers of the music community, all volunteering our time and resources to raise money and some major hell for our needy Americans.
The U.S. Cellular Coliseum is donating this great facility; the union hands are waiving their fees; the bands and crews are donating their time and spirit; and we will rock the place with more positive force than any F5 tornado negative force could ever muster. Know that. I'm bringing my Gibson with me.
So thar she blows, ya all. We did it in Boston after the terrorist bombing; we did it in New York City on 9/11; we always do it where there are Americans in need. Hell, Americans race to help anyone, anywhere, anytime, because most Americans are still made this way. It's called The American Way. The real American way. Everybody I know has always asked what we can do for our country, never what our country can do for us.
