Streaming services like Netflix, Amazon and Hulu like to keep their numbers secret while they wage the never-ending battle for viewers, but new data cutting across the different platforms now reveal what the most popular streaming shows are.
Based on Parrot Analytics use of "demand expressions" to analyze factors such as streams, viewers and engagement to tease out the never-had-before data – obtained by The Hollywood Reporter – here are the 10 most popular shows offered by the top streamers.
1: "The Man in the High Castle" – The Amazon hit series is based upon an award-winning novel by Philip K. Dick and explores how life would be if allied powers had lost WW11 and the U.S. was instead ruled by Japan and Germany. The series received three nominations for the 2017 Emmy Awards.
2: "Narcos" – In this gritty original series, Netflix chronicles the rise of the cocaine trade in Colombia through compelling, real-life stories about notorious drug cartels. The series was released in 2015 and lead actor Wagner Moura has since received a Golden Globe nomination for his performance as Pablo Escobar in Season 1.
3: "The Handmaid’s Tale" – Hulu’s film adaption from Margaret Atwood’s classic novel was an instant hit and tells the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly the U.S. Launched this year, the series bagged five Emmys and a further three at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, IMDB noted.

4: "The Tick" – Released this year via Amazon, “The Tick” has viewers rooting for an accountant with mental health issues and no super powers after he falls in league with a blue superhero to uncover a conspiracy theory that puts a global super villain at the seat of his city.
5: "Stranger Things" – The Netflix-original drama features top performances from award-winning actress Winona Ryder and is a nostalgic nod to sci-fi classics of the 1980s. “Stranger Things” earned 18 Emmy nominations this year.
6: "11.22.63" – James Franco plays a high school teacher presented with the mission of traveling back in time to prevent the assassination of John F. Kennedy in Hulu’s eight-part event series.
