The American rapper known as 50 Cent was arrested in the Caribbean for swearing during a Saturday night performance in St. Kitts.

The rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, and a member of his entourage named Bajar Walter were arrested after the performance, The Associated Press reported.

Jackson's representative Amanda Ruisi said 50 Cent paid a fine for profanities used during his performance at the St. Kitts Music Festival. Using indecent language in a public place is a misdemeanor in St. Kitts.

Celebrity gossip site TMZ said Jackson didn't pull the mic away from his mouth when he said "mother f*****" during a set.

Jackson paid the fine in court on Sunday morning and headed back to the U.S., E! News reported. His bail was E.C. $5,000, about U.S. $1,800.

A similar incident occurred in 2003 when the rapper DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was arrested for swearing during his own concert in St. Kitts.

A video of the concert posted to Instagram shows profanity being used.

Twitter users shared mixed reaction to the arrest.
