Aaron Hernandez, the former New England Patriots tight end who was convicted of murder last month, was reportedly involved in a prison fight at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley, Massachusetts, Monday just one month into his life sentence.

CNN reported that Hernandez acted as a lookout for another inmate, who entered a prisoner's cell and started a fight. The one-time football star was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life without parole on April 15 for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd.

“It was two-on-one, he was part of the two,” one law enforcement official told ABC News.

All three involved are being disciplined, and Hernandez has been placed in the Special Management Unit.

A source told ABC the incident involved gangs and, after the fight, prison officials reportedly saw a new tattoo on Hernandez referencing the Bloods gang.

“The victim in the fight was some absolute nobody,” the source said. “He was just trying to show he’s down with the Bloods, a scared man looking at life in prison.”

The Massachusetts Department of Corrections declined to comment to CNN for regulatory reasons.

Twitter users have been commenting on their displeasure with the former NFL star.

This is not the first time Hernandez has found himself in trouble behind bars. He also got into a brawl with a prisoner while awaiting his murder trial, CNN noted.

According to ABC, a date may be set Thursday for Hernandez's double-murder trial. The case, separate from the murder he was convicted of, stems back to the July 2012 drive-by shooting of two men. He has pleaded not guilty.
