During the American Country Music Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday night, magician David Copperfield took a jab at this year's Academy Awards blunder while announcing the winner of song of the year.
"Emma Stone, La La Land," Copperfield announced while standing with fellow presenter Nancy O’Dell. Following the uproarious laughs, he announced the real winner: Thomas Rhett for "Die a Happy Man," Raidió Teilifís Éireann noted.
It was a shot at the confusion during the Best Picture award presentation by Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway during the Academy Awards. They had been given the wrong envelope listing Emma Stone as Best Actress for "La La Land," which was announced as the winner before it was revealed that "Moonlight" was the actual winner.
Rhett also took Best Male Vocalist honors at the country music extravaganza. Jason Aldean won for Entertainer of the Year while Miranda Lambert took home awards for Female Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year for "The Weight of These Wings."
