There were tears of joy when Adam Driver surprised a Pennsylvania military family with a visit to deliver a scholarship to their 21-year-old daughter, Hayley Williams.

The new "Star Wars" series actor, who is a former marine, teamed up with Budweiser and the Folds of Honor Foundation to reach out to Hayley after she wrote in asking for assistance to help pay for her final year of nursing school.

The moment was documented in a video posted on YouTube by Budweiser.

In her letter, the medical student explained her situation, stating her calling to help people was inspired by her father, an Army veteran, John Williams.

"Right before desert storm, my dad severely injured his back during a training exercise," she wrote. "His injury was so severe, today he has two steel rods and six screws fusing his spine together. Worse than the physical toll has been the emotional one. While his unit shipped off to war, my dad watched from a hospital room. To this day he feels a sense of guilt"

John Williams has been driving a bus part time to make ends meet and Hayley has had to pay her way through school.

"Right now I’m working 40 hours a week to pay my final year but, at a cost of nearly $44,000, affording my final year simply may not be possible," Hayley Williams wrote.

Driver told The HuffPost he jumped at the opportunity to get involved in the initiative to assist the family.

"I was very touched by Hayley and her family’s story and wanted to be of service to them," he said.

Driver signed up for the Marines after 9/11, noted Military.com. A mountain biking accident left Driver with an injured sternum, and despite training harder to try to push through the injury, Driver was medically discharged before deployment.

This explains why Driver felt an affinity to the Williams family and why, after delivering the news, he could not resist getting in to a group hug with them to celebrate.
