The little girl from the Missy Elliott video "Work It" 10 years ago, Alyson Stoner, has made a tribute video with performances to three songs.
Along with "Work It" are "Gossip Folks" and "I'm Really Hot," a medley of Elliott’s hits that Stoner posted as an homage to the person who gave her a start in showbusiness.
Stoner, who was 11 in the original video, is now a 21-year-old actress, singer, and choreographer. She played Max in “The Suite Life of Zach and Cody,” and also appeared in “Cheaper by the Dozen.”
Stoner spoke to BuzzFeed about her memories from that first entertainment gig.
“I showed up to a dance studio with 300 competitive little hopefuls wearing my Limited Too sweat outfit and rhinestone bandana,” Stoner said. “Hi-Hat taught us the choreography and we performed it through several rounds of cuts. I think my early training with a Broadway professional helped with showmanship thankfully.”
She also shared with BuzzFeed her best on-set memory of Elliott: “To this day, I remember vividly Missy Elliott, Ludacris, and my grandma riding in a golf cart to set. My grandma went back to Ohio and told her bowling friends, ‘Guess what? I was riding to set with Missy and Ridiculous!’”
At the end of her tribute video, Stoner said, "Missy, thank you so much for the opportunity to dance for you and now carve a path of my own."
