A judge has granted Amanda Bynes' mother Lynn a temporary conservatorship over her daughter's estate and finances, a day after the troubled starlet's doctors placed her on an extended, 30-day psychiatric hold.

The conservatorship, which lists Bynes' father Rick as an interested party, allows the 27-year-old's parents to have control over her estimated $3.7 million estate.

Bynes is reportedly not happy about her parents gaining control over her.

"She does oppose conservatorship," Bynes' court-appointed public defender Mary Shea told E! Online. "She does not feel there is a need for a conservatorship."

Bynes' very public downfall has been the stuff of tabloid gold over the last year. The former Nickelodeon star has had her share of brushes with the law, including her most recent arrest for possession of marijuana, leading many people to believe that she is either on drugs or having a mental breakdown.

Bynes has made headlines for everything from locking herself in dressing rooms for hours and shaving her head to posting semi-nude photos of herself on Twitter and hurling her favorite insult, "ugly," at anyone and everyone, including President Barack Obama.

The actress was placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold in late July after she was accused of setting a small fire in the driveway of home in Thousand Oaks, Calif. The hold was extended on July 25 and again on Thursday for 30 days after her doctors told a judge she is "gravely disabled" with mental illness, according to TMZ.

At the same time, her parents were filing for a conservatorship.

"We are deeply concerned that Amanda poses a substantial risk to herself, to others and to property based on recent events in her life," Lynn and Rick Bynes said in court documents. "She talks incessantly about cosmetic surgeries that she wants completed. She also encourages her mother to have plastic surgeries. We are concerned that the surgeries she wants to have are dangerous and detrimental to her health.

"She would cover smoke alarms with towels, tape windows shut, and cover her car's dashboard with cardboard and tape" because she claimed that "cameras were watching her from inside these places."

The temporary hold will be reevaluated on Sept. 30.
