Amy Duggar, the niece of “19 Kids & Counting’s” Jim Bob and Michelle, announced her engagement to Dillon King on Instagram Monday.
The photo shows Duggar and new fiancé holding hands, showing off the new bling on her left hand.
“I’m so happy to announce . . . WE ARE ENGAGED!!!!” the 28-year-old captioned the picture. “He loves the Lord, he makes me laugh uncontrollably, he's loyal, he's patient, he's my best friend! Of course I said yes!! l love you so much!”
On Twitter, a photo of the moment when she accepted the proposal was posted as well. Amy Duggar reportedly called the proposal “simple and sincere,” and said
she loved it, according to Starcasm.
King also shared the news on his own account with a collage of photos.
“I asked you to be my fiancee not just because I love you right now,” he wrote. “I got down on one knee because you are the only woman I have and will truly love forever!!! Xoxo”
Though the Duggar cousin does not abide by the strict dating rules Jim Bob and Michelle have for their children, the aunt and uncle shared their congratulations for the couple on Facebook.
“We are so excited for our niece Amy Duggar and Dillion King on getting engaged,” the statement read. “We tell every couple that as a husband and wife individually draw close to God, they will draw close to each other. We love you Amy & Dillion and pray that God will continue to bless your relationship as you put Him first in your lives!”
In January, rumors spread about Amy Duggar and the circumstances surrounding her birth, and she later confirmed the gossip with a post of her and her
parents on Instagram, "Entertainment Tonight" reported.
“The tabloids are telling the truth, my mom and dad did have me out of wedlock,” Duggar wrote. “Just because we are Christians doesn't make us perfect, it just makes us forgiven.”
Duggar used the opportunity to share a pro-life message with her audience as well.
“I'm extremely grateful to my mom for choosing to give me life,” she said. “I'm sure she was scared, young, ridiculed, and felt ashamed. God's grace covered it though!”
