R&B singer Angie Stone was arrested after knocking out her adult daughter's front teeth during a fight at her home in suburban Atlanta.
The 53-year-old Grammy-nominated singer, whose real name is Angela Brown, was taken into custody on Monday after she was interviewed at the DeKalb County Police Department along with her daughter Diamond Stone, 30,
according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Brown was charged with domestic aggravated assault.
Authorities wrote in an incident report that Brown was upset about the condition of her daughter's room and ordered her to clean it, wrote the newspaper. Brown also demanded that her daughter get control of her children who were running round her DeKalb County home, authorities noted in the incident report.
"Ms. Diamond Stone then went on to state that Ms. Angie Stone started (getting) in her face, telling her she needed to leave because she is tired (of) her," the police said. "Ms. Diamond Stone then stated her and Ms. Angie Stone started to argue, and that's when a physical altercation started to occur."
Brown told police that she punched her daughter in face while defending herself in the altercation, not realizing she struck her with a metal stand, knocking out her teeth,
reported TMZ.
A family friend at the home eventually broke up the fight.
Diamond Stone disputed that she quarreled with her mother and that Brown was the sole aggressor while she tried to walk away,
reported WGCL-TV.
Along with being nominated for Grammy Awards three times, Stone appeared on the TV One television show "R&B Divas: Atlanta." She acted in the 2003 movie "Fighting Temptations" with Beyonce Knowles and Cuba Gooding Jr., where she also sang on several songs of the movie soundtrack.
