Anna Chapman: Sexy Ex-Russian Spy Launches Own Fashion Line

Anna Chapman, the ex-Russian spy turned sex symbol, has launched her own fashion line, but critics aren’t too optimistic about her future as a designer.

Described as "lethal weapons for women," the line features casual clothes and dresses and was recently presented at a trade fair in Turkey.

"The collection is based around dresses with a price range and styling that is accessible to practically any Russian woman," a spokesman for the bank where Chapman works as an advisor, Grigory Belkin, told the Interfax news agency on Friday.

The clothes will go on sale in February, according to Agence France-Presse.

Chapman, 31, was posing as a real estate agent in the U.S. in 2010 when she was accused of being a Russian spy. She was ultimately deported in the largest prisoner swap since the Cold War and later became a pseudo-celebrity, posing for Russia's version of Maxim magazine and Playboy

In July she made headlines again when she tweeted a marriage proposal to Edward Snowden, the former contractor who leaked intelligence about the U.S. National Security Agency's surveillance program.

The Russian fashion scene isn't too excited about adding a new member to its ranks.

"I wouldn't say Anna Chapman herself has ideal taste," stylist and television host Grigory Lisovets told Vechernyaya Moskva. "She wears clothes that are absolutely ordinary."

"A lot of media figures are presenting themselves as designers and couturiers, but this is far from the case," fashion historian and collector Alexander Vasilyev told the Russian newspaper. "I wish her well but I don't think her collection will be a success."
