Four-time Grammy Award winner Annie Lennox reportedly has been scouted by a Los Angeles radio station that thinks she has "potential."

The former Eurhythmics lead singer shared on Facebook an email encouraging her to submit music to the station to be considered for radio play.

"I think I’m in with a chance!!!" Lennox said on Facebook, sharing a copy of the email, where she blocked out the station’s name.

In the correspondence, a woman introduces herself as Kylie, stating she was the new music coordinator for the station that has over 100,000 listeners each month.

"I came across your music on line and really like what I heard," said the email. "I find artists who I think have potential and get them in rotation on our station. If you'd like, please send over the MP3 for your latest single. I'll forward it to Glenn our programming director here at … to see if he's interested in putting in rotation."

The email goes on to say the station was connected to an artist development firm that could offer additional radio play with 150 radio stations worldwide and provide support for press, video, retail and licencing.

"The best part is, if they really like your music, they’ll cover all the marketing expenses."

While it has not been confirmed whether this was a legitimate email or a scam, it has highlighted the vulnerability of unsigned artists in the industry, The Wrap noted.

"Whilst it's obviously a bit of fun sharing the email I received telling me I had "potential" sadly up and coming musicians are sent these kinds of scams every day,’ Lennox said in a separate post on Facebook. "My digital team receive hundreds of them every year. I'd urge any new (or indeed established) artists to send that kind of email straight to your trash."

This is not an isolated incident.

In 2014, Americana singer-songwriter Jason Isbell received an email from an alleged talent producer of NBC, encouraging him to audition for The Voice, noted the Los Angeles Times.

Isbell posted part of the email on Twitter.
