Ant Anstead has admitted that he cannot hold onto his wives amid news that he is officially getting divorced from Christina Anstead. The reality TV star made the quip Monday in an Instagram story in which he also announced that he would be exiting "Wheeler Dealers," which he has been a part of since 2017. Former Formula One mechanic Marc "Elvis" Priestley would be taking the place of Ant, who is moving back to the U.K. from California.
In his video clip, Ant discusses his departure with co-star Mike Brewer.
"For me, I'm sad because you and me have got an amazing bromance," Brewer told Ant, per People. "There’s no, you know … People are gonna say 'Brewer can't hold onto these mechanics' and all this nonsense," he continued.
"People say that about me and my wives!" Ant replied.
On Monday it was confirmed that Christina filed for divorce from Ant after two years of marriage. The estranged couple separated in September but sources told People that they had been having marital issues long before they finally decided to call it quits.
"After the baby, they started having conflicts," the insider explained.
Christina also shares daughter Taylor, 10, and son Brayden, 5, with ex-husband and costar Tarek El Moussa. Ant shares daughter Amelie, 16, and son Archie, 14, with his ex-wife Louise Herbert.
Juggling her busy family life with work and everything else in between became too much for Christina, who started feeling "lonely and unhappy" in her marriage.
"Christina found it difficult to balance everything," and she and Ant were "struggling with their relationship," the source noted, adding that Christina "never expected to get a divorce" but is "doing OK and focusing on the kids."
