Although Dwane had not been feeling well for a couple of days, fans at their Sunday night gig in Austin, Texas, didn’t notice a thing.
He went to the hospital for emergency treatment after that performance, where it was determined that he had a blood clot on the surface of his brain, which required immediate surgery.
Dwane is expected to recover fully and quickly.
Since his hospitalization, the Twitter feedback has been enormously supportive.
“What a scary experience! I am glad they caught it. Please take the time you need to recover. Three (3) shows just doesn’t seem like long enough. Your fans love you and support you and we will wait for you (small pun intended). Sending positive thoughts your way <3 ~Jen”
The band, noted for its
choir boy harmonies and rousing banjo picking cyber-pop melodies, has posted notices online, stating that all dates that had to be cancelled would be rescheduled, and that the already scheduled tour dates would proceed as originally scheduled.
They are on the road promoting last year’s album, "Babel," and a teamed with Elvis Costello covering a Bruce Springsteen song for the One Campaign’s Against Poverty Initiative.
