B.B. King has been hospitalized in Las Vegas to treat dehydration related to his Type II diabetes, but the Hall of Fame blues musician is reportedly doing better as of Monday.
King's daughter Claudette confirmed to the Los Angeles Times that the musician, 89, was hospitalized over the weekend but said his health is on the upswing.
King entered a Las Vegas hospital over the weekend when he became sick with diabetes-related complications that
included dehydration, according to TMZ. Last October, the musician was forced cancel a performance due to dehydration and exhaustion, which ultimately led to him nixing the rest of his concert tour.
King's career dates back to the 1950s and, with some help from his famous guitar he called Lucille,
Rolling Stone magazine ranks him as one of the greatest guitarists of all-time. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.
King is also a member of the blues and R&B halls of fame and has won 15 Grammy Awards. A longtime resident of Las Vegas, he opened the B.B. King's Blues Club at The Mirage in 2009, but the venue closed
three years later, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.
