A misunderstanding led many to believe Betty White died today, however her agent confirmed that the 92-year-old is, in fact, alive and well.
According to the Los Angeles Times, satirical website Empire News published a headline on Wednesday that confused users on Twitter, who took it as news of her death, and began tweeting condolences.

The headline, "Actress Betty White, 92, dyes peacefully in her Los Angeles home," was a play on words that sat atop a fake article about how much White loves to dye her hair. The "dye" and "die" homonyms apparently confused some, and enough Twitter users incorrectly spread the news of her death that her name began to trend on the network.
Soon enough, the Times picked up on the Twitter trend and reached out to White's agent, Jeff Witjas. He stated simply that his client was indeed alive and well.
"She is on the set shooting 'Hot in Cleveland' right now," he said.
Celebrity death hoaxes are common on Twitter, with everyone from Subway spokesman Jared to Hulk Hogan becoming victims of well-plotted rumor campaigns.
Others, like White's fellow "Golden Girl" Rue McClanahan and "Welcome Back Kotter's" Ron Palillo, have seen reports of their death trend on Twitter years after they actually died, often when Twitter users fail to read the date of the obituaries posted by fans on death anniversaries.
In White's case, the death rumor appeared to be a genuine misunderstanding.
