Confused Beyoncé fans launched an online attack on TV chef Rachael Ray, mistaking her for Jay Z’s alleged mistress Rachel Roy and proving what a difference a vowel can make.
Beyoncé stirred up the “Beyhive” with her latest album “Lemonade,” released Saturday night,
The Washington Post reported. The singer referred to “Becky with the good hair,” in lyrics for the song “Sorry.” Some speculated that the song referred to fashion designer Rachel Roy, and fans took to the Internet to express their displeasure with the woman accused of stealing Beyoncé’s husband Jay Z.
The alleged affair surfaced in 2014 when Beyoncé’s sister Solange attacked Jay Z in an elevator, and Roy wasn’t happy to have it stirred up again,
Hollywood Life reported.
“Rachel is so upset that she was called out and had to make her Instagram private from all the backlash,” a source told the celebrity gossip magazine.
Roy reportedly responded to the song with a post on social media declaring “Good hair don’t care, but we will take good lighting, for selfies, or self truths, always.” and including the hashtag #nodramaqueens.
In their confusion, angry fans tore apart Rachael Ray on social media, calling the celebrity chef a “homewrecker” and telling her to “go caramelize some onions,” among a flood of attacks.
In response to the mistaken identity, one Rachael Ray fan commented: “release a lemonade recipe and send all the morons into overdrive !”
Rachael Ray wasn’t the only one mistakenly drawn into the fray, the
New York Post reported, noting that celebrity stylist and designer Rachel Zoe also took some blows on Instagram.
Rachel Roy tweeted about the issue on Sunday.
Twitter users seemed amused by the mix-up.
