Microsoft founder and former CEO Bill Gates admitted in an interview that he now uses an Android smartphone equipped with Microsoft software.

“Recently, I actually did switch to an Android phone with a lot of Microsoft software,” Gates said on “Fox News Sunday” while talking about his relationship with the late Apple CEO Steve Jobs.

Microsoft has spent the last several years trying to grab a piece of the smartphone market, but only about 1 percent of smartphone users currently own a Windows-powered phone, On MSFT reported.

Gates did not specify which phone he is using. Microsoft recently started selling Samsung Galaxy S8 phones in its retail stores, which include apps like Cortana, Office, OneDrive, and Outlook. These apps are available to any Android or even iPhone users, but come already set to go on the Galaxy S8, The Verge reported.

Apple's iPhones and iPads are still verboten for Gates and his household, although he did call Jobs a “genius” in the Fox interview. “No, no iPhone,” he said.

Gates stepped down as CEO of Microsoft years ago, but remains a major shareholder on the board and serves part-time as a technology adviser to the company since 2014.
