Blanket Jackson, third child of the late Michael Jackson, has reportedly changed his name to “Bigi” after being the target of jokes and bullying.

The informal name change, which was originally revealed in a RadarOnline story, reflects the 13-year-old’s resentment at being given an affectionate nickname that “sounded so stupid.”

According to Fox CT, all of Michael Jackson’s children bear names that revolve around the King of Pop's own given first name. His daughter, Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson, his older son, Michael “Prince” Joseph Jackson Jr., and his youngest child, Prince Michael “Blanket” Jackson II, all unmistakably reflect their lineage in their given monikers.

But Blanket has had it, according to the celebrity gossip site. He allegedly chose the German name “Bigi” as his new moniker because it refers to someone who is “idealistic, sensitive, and inspirational.” An anonymous source allegedly told Radar that Blanket, who is entering the eighth grade, changed his name before entering The Buckley School in California. The change is duly noted in his yearbook photo below:

Blanket and his two siblings currently live with their grandmother, 85-year-old Katherine Jackson, and their cousin, 36-year-old TJ Jackson, in California. Michael Jackson died in 2009 from propofol and benzodiazepine intoxication followed by cardiac arrest, and his physician was convicted for involuntary manslaughter.

Reactions to Blanket’s decision to change his name have been varied on social media websites.
