Bob Barker made a surprise return to "The Price is Right" for its April Fools' Day episode Wednesday, giving away an SUV to one contestant during the show's Lucky $even game.

The 91-year-old hosted the popular game show from 1972 to 2007 and last made an appearance in 2013 for his 90th birthday, according to USA Today.

On Wednesday, after the first four contestants were selected, the audience was stunned when Barker was announced as the host instead of Drew Carey.

"I'm here because I was selected by 'The Price Is Right' to be their April Fool," Barker told the audience. "I know the world is full of fools, but I am a carefully selected fool, and it is a pleasure to be with you."

Barker would go on to participate in the Lucky $even contest.

"'The Price is Right' has a history of April Fools' Day pranks," Us Weekly reported. "In 2014, then-'Late Late Show' host Craig Ferguson hosted the show instead of Carey, and the year before saw the models swap jobs with Carey and announcer George Gray."

Barker, who is also a well-known animal rights activist, started out his entertainment career in radio in the 1950s with the "Bob Barker Show" before joining the "The Price is Right," which is now the longest-running daytime game show in history. "The Price is Right" is also television's first hour-long game show.

Carey, the current host, is a former stand-up comic and host of the sitcom "The Drew Carey Show" and improv series "Whose Line Is It Anyway?"
